Orangetown’s Energy Program: Cost Savings for Town Residents & Small Businesses
Seven months after the launch of the Rockland Community Power program, the program is delivering cost savings to residents and small businesses – and a measurable environmental impact too.
Through the Rockland Community Power program, residents and small businesses in the six Rockland Community Power communities have collectively saved $594.567.65. That’s over half a million dollars in collective savings, with many town residents and small businesses on renewable energy. In the town, alone, we have collectively saved $397,069.98. That’s in addition to savings of close to 10% on electric bills for those who have enrolled in community solar through the Rockland Community Power program.
Through the renewable energy portion of the program, the six Rockland Community Power communities will also save the equivalent of 39,247 metric tons of CO2 emissions, which will be avoided over two years. That’s the equivalent of taking 7,752 cars off the road for one year.
The program gives each of us a way to make a measurable difference in our carbon footprint, while also keeping costs down. If you did not sign up for the renewable energy option with this program and would like to do so now, you can always enroll at 845 859-9099 option 1 or online at www.RocklandCommunityPower.com. You can also enroll in community solar for a guaranteed discount of close to 10%. The helpline is available Monday to Friday, 9 to 5.
Alternative Energy Companies: We also want to let our residents and small businesses know that some ESCOs (Energy Service Companies) are targeting our community with solicitations. Letters from the town program will come only on our letterhead and signed by the Town Supervisor. We do not knock on doors or make unsolicited calls. You can always check with the Town Supervisor’s office at (845) 359-5100.
