Orangetown announced the NYS Board of Real Property Tax Services amended the 2017 Tax Equalization Rate. Supervisor Andy Stewart said, “We are very pleased the State Board of Real Property Tax Services agreed with the case made by our Town Assessor Brian Kenney that a double-digit school tax increase was an error and saw fit to adjust the tax equalization rate, thus reducing what was anticipated to be an almost 14% increase in the Orangetown portion of the Nanuet School District and a 9% increase in the Orangetown portion of the Nyack School District. Our advocacy, along with the support of Assemblymember Jaffee and Senator Carlucci, the Nanuet School District, and the many property owners who expressed their strong objections paid off.”
